Local Churches Raising Offerings for Haiti Disaster Response
On Sunday, January 17, local Nazarene churches on the Chicago Central District, and literally around the world, spent time in prayer for the people of Haiti and for the emergency response teams on the ground. They also challenged their people to give generously to help provide the medical supplies, temporary shelter, water and food that are so desperately needed immediately. Pastor Greg Chambers, of the Kankakee Eastridge Church, reported on Sunday afternoon that, in spite of several regular attenders being absent this Sunday because of illness, vacations and a family funeral, the church responded in overwhelming fashion with an offering of $1140 on Sunday. We praise God for the lavish generosity of a compassionate people! Let's all continue to do whatever we can as the hands of God for the people of Haiti. Cash giving is the most effective means of helping right now. However, an updated list of needed supplies and shipping instructions is also available on this website behind the LINKS/DOWNLOADS tab.
